The City of Altus selected Cowan Group Engineering (CGE) for the expansion of the existing landfill. According to ODEQ, the expansion was a Tier I Lateral Expansion, and more specifically, the expansion included a sixth cell to the landfill which covered 6.05 acres of new fillable area for solid waste.

The Tier 1 solid waste facility included removal of nearly 120,000 cubic yards of overburden material, removal and re-compaction of 19,000 cubic yards of two (2)-foot clay liner, a new geomembrane polypropylene liner, extension of the existing leachate system and two (2) feet of sand filtration. The expansion has an anticipated life span of 6-8 years.
